Dubrovnik in Croatia is one of the best preserved medieval cities in Europe. The city was founded in the 6th century and the walls surround the old city, which has a mixture of architecture in areas of Renaissance, Baroque and Gothic art. The fortifications, fine building and palaces are populated in full and the beauty of the city is probably without rival. Outside the ancient walls lies the modern town with many shops and large hotels.
Before you venture away from the main land on your charter holiday there are many historical places you may want to see in the old town. Whatever you do here, do not miss the ancient pharmacy and the Franciscan Monastery. The ancient pharmacy is the one on the far off side of the cloister and not the one at the entrance. There is also a variety of many good cafe-bars like Gradska, Talir, Cele and Kavana. There are also quite a few good restaurants like Arsenal, the one by the clock tower and Lokanda, which is the one that looks over the old port. You also have the option here of spending time as some cyber cafes and night clubs. The restaurant cum night club Arsenal is a good place for you to go clubbing if you choose to, be it summer or winter.
Coming to sailing in Dubrovnik, the place is best suited for scenic cruising along the coast. The lovely climate and the good line of sight navigation, complements the Croatian hospitality in the area.
In the summer, the winds generally blow from the northwesterly direction, with speeds ranging from 10 to 20 knots. The summer temperature are about 26°C to 28°C with the tidal range remaining as minimum. This makes this place ideal for sailing yachts and also motor yachts, especially people who would like to enjoy a good sun bath.
